Hand Stripping Near Complete
This is my very 1st attempt to complete the hand stripping on Ben. We started the stripping job in the 1st week of Nov and now left the last portion on the head and the "football".
1st week, I was taught to find dips along the topline, identify the block and start the corrective stripping. I also open up a line along the neck.
2nd week, it is the major stripping week where major portion on the body will be stripped. I encountered problem on where to stop on at the shirting and the hind legs. Was told to remove all coarse textured but I felt that my boy has grown alot and the old photograph that I took on his previous stripping may not be valid anymore. I observed his angulation and I think it should be adjusted accordingly. Helpful friends came along and visited me to give me some advise. We stop at less then 1 finger length at the shirting to give some buffer incase we go over the line.
3rd week, still quite a major job to perform this week, it includes widening the neck, the shoulder, the shoulder blades and the tail. I choose to play safe and leave 2 finger length for buffer.
4ht week, groomer is back and we met on last Saturday and today, he offered his advises on the where to stop, he studied the dog for awhile and gave me the instruction to continue to touch up those lines. He is good, now I can visualised the angulation and more confident on what to do in future. We finished up the job on the neck area, the shirting lines, the front and hind legs lines, and also reduce the "football" by 1/2. Groomer also help to clip away some irritiating fur at the backside, throat, chest and face. He also help to trim the furnishing so I can see a better posture when working on the stack.
Till next week.. I hope Ben's coat is growing as fast like he did in the previous strip. I wish to remove the rest of the remains when the time has come.
Overall, I applied things that I learn from previous stripping, such as remove the coat nicely and do it slowly at home to ensure a clean strip. Nice to learn more things in this strip to do bit by bit stripping daily so I will not rush thru a stripping job. Post and check for angulation to get the correct lines.
I keep reading the website to check for further questions and I think I am learning more now.
