Skin Care During Stripping Period
Understand from groomer that dog's skin of the stripped area is extremely sensitive. Ben has to avoid sunlight as bare skin will easily sunburn when over exposed to sunlight. I have adjusted the time for walking Ben to cooler time of the day or to go under shades.
As the bare skin with coat is also very prone to irritations from dirt and dust. I make sure I clean the skin with use cotton pads sprayed with Chris Christensen Systems - Peace & Kindness. Beside cleaning, I also apply Botanical Tree Tar Cream (aka Oscar Cream) on the bumps, which I already seeing results of drying up those bumps. Many of them has dried up and peel off during bath. I only apply this cream on affected area and it seems to help alot after days of observation. This is beside the fact the new coat is growing out and has help to protect the exposed skin.
Groomer also advised to apply Dermcare Aloveen Oatmeal Intensive Conditioner on those freshly stripped area for a day or two. It is formulated with extracts of Oatmeal in an Aloe Vera gel base. It aid in soothing and cleansing itchy skin. Oatmeal helps in inflamed and irritated skin. Apply and leave it on for soothing effect for stressful skin. http://www.users.bigpond.com/dermcare/
In general,
Day 1, bathe the dog after stripping and apply Aloveen Oatmeal Intensive Conditioner and leave Day 2 & 3, wipe and clean the stripped areas with cotton pads sprayed with Chris Christensen Systems - Peace & Kindness (colloidal silver) and apply Aloveen Oatmeal Intensive Conditioner.
Day 4 onwards, bathe the dog and wipe and clean the stripped areas with cotton pads sprayed with Chris Christensen Systems - Peace & Kindness (colloidal silver) after walks and exercise. Apply Oscar Cream if spot any bumps. Continue till next stripping or till new coat is out in 4 weeks time.
