Hand Stripping - 1st Session
Ben was hand stripped on 23/08/2006 for the 1st session. Some sections are now bare with little fur. He has to stayed in the shades whenever there is outing as bare skin will sunburn.
The whole stripping process will roughly take about 4 weeks to complete. 7 days interval to strip the appropriate sections. The stripping pattern is adjusted for individual dog as required.
Why need a stripped coat?
Miniature schnauzer must be stripped in order to be shown in the conformation ring. Stripped coat encourages miniature schnauzer's natural coat texture and color. A stripped coat is harder, is dirt- and water-repellent, and does not mat as easily. A properly cared for stripped coat will lie flatter, and so can be left to grow longer.
I am too new to perform a hand stripping processs. Ben's groomer is a well known groomer for miniature schnauzer and I trust his years of experience in miniature schnauzer. He is also the importer for Ben. I pick bit of information here and there thru asking friends, groomers and also the following websites:
